Eric Lefkofsky – Helping Make Tremendous Progress in Cancer Research Through Data Aggregation

Published / by Crossfit / Leave a Comment

Cancer has taken millions of lives over the years and continued to spread like an epidemic all over the world. Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies are burning the midnight oil to find a cure to this terminal disease to save lives. Even though there has been a rapid advancement in the field of cancer therapies, there are many questions still unanswered, and many puzzles that remain unsolved. It is where the role of centralized and integrated data from cancer patients can play a significant role in helping the physicians and scientists to provide better cancer treatment.

Eric Lefkofsky, better known as the founder and Chairman of GrouponInc, a company that aggregates merchant deals to pass on the benefits to the consumers, is also the co-founder of Tempus. Tempus is dedicated to gathering cancer-related data in a segregated and organized manner that would make it usable for the physicians and the cancer-based scientists. Eric Lefkofsky believes that there is ample amount of patient data available, but no proper source where therapeutic and genomic information can be available at one place. He further explained in detail how there is an urgent need for such source of accurate patient data in San Diego at the Fortune Brainstorm Health Conference.

Mr Lefkofsky told what Tempus does and how it gathers and provides molecular, clinical, therapeutic, and outcome response data at one place. He says that such data would help in knowing why one medicine works for some patients while not working or mildly working with other cancer patients. Eric stated that such data should be readily available to the researchers so that they can pinpoint the problem with the therapies and know what is lacking so that they can fill the void.

Eric Lefkofsky is one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the United States, and apart from being the co-founder of GrouponInc and Tempus, he is also the founding partner at Lightbank, a venture capital firm and Uptake Technologies, one of the most sought after predictive analytics platform. He is also the founder of Mediaocean, a company that offers media procurement technology, and InnerWorkings, a leading company providing print, media, and promotional solutions.

Eric Lefofsky on Tempus and What’s Close to His Heart

The idea behind Tempus is that the company works to help people who have cancer. On one side of the company, Lefofsky works to help families and the people who have the diagnoses deal with the disease. On the other side of the company is the professional geneticist who is working to come up with solutions for the disease. They are not only working together for a cure but are also working to help make the way of living with cancer much more tolerable for the people who have it. Mr Eric Lefofsky knows that this is important because he has been through the disease with his wife. He was personally touched by cancer and knew that it was his duty to make sure that people were going to be able to make sure that things would work better for everyone who had the disease. While dealing with cancer, Eric Lefofsky came up with the idea for Tempus.

Even though Eric had been very successful with his business and was actually able to retire early, that didn’t mean that he wasn’t touched personally by cancer. He knows that it is something that affects everyone and that he is able to get more out of life with the help of a support system. He worked in that way for his wife and that helped her to heal more comfortably. He wanted to make things easier for everyone who had the disease and decided that using the idea behind Tempus was the right way for him to do it. Click here to know more.

Eric Lefofsky was able to retire early initially because of the options that he had. He worked hard on Groupon and made it a very popular option for all people who wanted to save money. While it was successful when it first started out in the Chicago area, it grew exponentially and was eventually able to branch out into different areas. It is now an international company and Lefofsky is able to enjoy the money that has come into him as a result of it. He didn’t know that it would be as successful as what it is.

The Cancer Treatment Centers of America have collaborated with Allscripts and NantHealth to implement a customized technical solution. This will give them access to the workflow contained in the Allscripts Sunrise electronic health records. This program gives information regarding the process of treating cancer without any interruption to the physician. Hundreds of oncologists nationwide have made contributions and the result is a collection of data regarding cancer.

The new system will show all of the treatment options available and prevent guesswork. A patients standard for care will be customized, efficient and safe. The oncologists will have access to the latest cancer research, complimentary therapies and treatment regimens. Supportive therapies and clinical approaches based on evidence will be used to optimize a patients cancer treatment. Also included are the current guidelines, adverse drug reactions, response rates and toxicity.

Since the system has an integrated platform the medical personnel can compare and discuss different treatment regimens and have more confidence in their diagnosis and treatment. The approval of insurance providers can be expedited with data providing the necessary information regarding treatment strategies. In addition the regimen of chemotherapy as well as the ordering process are improved. Information can also be retrieved from a medical library which covers the cost of treatments, clinical outcomes, toxicities and literature.

The Cancer Treatment Centers of America are based out of Boca Raton, Florida. They are a national network including five hospitals who provide care for patients with cancer. They use a combination of genomic testing, surgery, immunotherapy, precision cancer treatment, radiation and chemotherapy.

The use therapies that have been designed to enhance their patients quality of life. They offer emotional and physical support and manage any side effects both during the treatment process as well as after. Their hospitals in Chicago, Phoenix, Tulsa, Atlanta and Chicago offer help to patients worldwide.
