Dr. Avi Weisfogel started his career as a dentist from his Old Bridge Dental Care office in New Jersey. Dr. Avi Weisfogel attended the Rutgers University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Biology. Dr. Weisfogel later went to New York University College of Dentistry and earned his degree as a dentist. He is the owner of Dental Sleep Masters Seminars based in New Jersey, where he trains other dentists how to treat their sleep disorders. Dr. Weisfogel has specialized in sleep apnea for over sixteen years and has accumulated extensive experience in this area.
The primary goal of the Dental Sleep Masters firm is to help the dentists’ community connect and assist patients in dealing with sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea is the common type sleep apnea and involves halted breathing during sleep. The primary cause of the disorder is a relaxation of throat muscles. People recognizes it when someone is snoring, but it can also cause daytime drowsiness, insomnia, and headaches upon waking.
One treatment of obstructive sleep apnea according to Avi is the custom-fit oral appliance. This type of therapy resembles athletic mouth guard, and the purpose is to support the patient’s jaw while sleeping to help keep the upper airway open. A patient needs to see a sleep specialist first and then he/she is referred to a dentist for the rest of the appliance therapy.
For him, what is important is a better way to conduct a procedure both to make the lives of his patients better and find new ways to perform procedures for him and other dentists.
He is a family man with six children and has special interests to help children from unfortunate families around the world. His recent commitment to launch a GoFundMe campaign for Operation Smile was meant to help the organization reach many children around the world who cannot afford surgical procedures.
