In 2016, Scott Rocklage of 5AM Ventures made a donation to MIT to help renovate the Lester Wolfe Chem Lab. Dr. Scott Rocklage has personal ties to MIT. He once attended the school and took chemistry under the Nobel Prize Winner, Prof. R. Schrock.
While at the school, a tour was performed and Scott Rocklage was honored for his generous gift. Inside of the lab’s vestibule, there was a plaque hung which honored the Rocklages for their generous donations to the renovation of the lab. The couple also heard from a number of important members of MIT.
Scott Rocklage joined 5AM Ventures back in 2003. He was welcomed as a Venture partner and went on to being a managing partner in 2004. He carries over three decades of knowledge in the healthcare management field and has extensive experience in leadership strategies. With the help of Scott Rocklage, there is a number of new drug candidates that went in as clinical trials under his direction. He has been serving as the Chairman as well as the CEO of the Cubist Pharmaceuticals corporation. He has served as a president and a CEO for Nycomed Salutar. When asked about how his business idea came about, Dr. Rocklage spoke about living his life as a science based capital firm within his life. He explains that the 5AM meaning came from being within the early stages of business and when you think about 5AM, it is most definitely early in the morning.
While giving an interview, Dr. Scott Rocklage was asked how he has a typical day and what does it look like. His answer was simple and to the point. For a number of days, he might experience something new everyday or he might find himself working on something that has to be done to prepare for a specific event or board meeting.
